THE APPLICATION
Plan the system around the excavation
Wellpoints are installed at planned intervals and connected to a common header and pump. The arrangement draws groundwater from around the excavation so work can proceed under more controlled ground conditions. The number and spacing of points, header layout and pump duty depend on the site rather than a fixed kit size.
PS Technology rents and sells wellpoint dewatering systems, and can install, commission and operate them on site for the duration of the works. We supply the wellpoints, header pipework and pumps, and provide standby and maintenance support while the system runs. The excavation layout, ground conditions and discharge route are reviewed first, so the number of points, spacing and pump duty suit the site.
How is a wellpoint system different from a sump pump?
A wellpoint arrangement draws groundwater through points installed around the work area. A submersible pump in a sump removes water that has already collected at a low point. The site may call for one approach or a combination.
APPLICATIONS
Typical applications
- Basement and foundation excavations
- Trench excavations for drainage, sewer and utility works
- Pile cap and pit excavations
- Shafts and temporary works below the water table
SUPPLY
What we supply
- Wellpoints, header pipes and connections
- Vacuum-assisted, diesel-driven wellpoint pumps in 6" and 8" sizes, PS-branded or to customer specification
- One pump typically serves around 150 wellpoints, and up to 200
- Installation, commissioning and removal
- Operation, standby and maintenance during the works
- Rental, sale, or full install-and-operate packages
What shapes the layout
- Ground and water
Groundwater level, soil conditions and the drawdown target affect the proposed approach.
- Excavation geometry
Depth, length, working space and access govern where wellpoints, headers and pumps can be placed.
- Discharge and operation
Identify the permitted discharge point, site power and how long the system must operate.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do you rent wellpoint dewatering systems?
Yes. We rent and sell wellpoint systems, and can also install and operate them for you on site.
Can you install and run the system for us?
Yes. We install, commission and operate the system, with standby and maintenance support for the duration of the works.
What size wellpoint pumps do you use?
Vacuum-assisted, diesel-driven pumps in 6" and 8" sizes. One pump typically runs around 150 wellpoints, and up to 200 depending on ground conditions and layout.
Which pumps do you use?
Vacuum-assisted, diesel-driven wellpoint pumps, either our own PS-branded units or another brand where the project specifies one.
