HAZARDOUS-AREA CONTROLS

ATEX and IECEx hazardous-area control panels

Custom control panels for Zone 2 hazardous areas, built to your requirements at our workshop in Singapore. Assembled inside certified Ex d flameproof enclosures, mainly Cortem, with Ex-rated operators, cable glands and meters, including motor starter and VFD panels for HPUs, pumps and skid packages.

THE APPLICATION

Start with the area classification

A control panel for a hazardous-area project must be specified against the installation location and the equipment it controls. Area classification, electrical functions, field devices and cable interfaces shape the panel design and the applicable approval route.

PS Technology offers ATEX and IECEx hazardous-area control panels, built in certified Ex d flameproof enclosures. The exact certification, protection method, marking and documentation must be confirmed for each proposed panel. An ATEX label should never be treated as a blanket approval for every location or installation.

We install components inside certified Ex d enclosures without modifying the enclosure — no additional drilling or machining — so the enclosure's certification is kept intact. Operators and entries are specified with the enclosure from the start. We mainly use Cortem Ex d enclosures, and can build in other certified brands such as R. STAHL, Eaton or BARTEC where a project specifies them.

Does one control panel suit every hazardous area?

No. The equipment marking and approval must be appropriate to the specific area and application. The project classification and required functions are needed before a panel can be specified.

Define the control and approval scope

  1. Location

Provide the hazardous-area classification and installation environment.

  2. Functions

List controlled equipment, inputs, outputs, supply and operator controls.

  3. Documentation

Specify required marking, certification records and project standards.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What hazardous areas are your control panels for?

Zone 2 hazardous areas. The enclosure and component markings are matched to the area classification for each project.

Is the panel itself ATEX certified?

The Ex d enclosures, operators, glands and meters we use carry their own ATEX / IECEx certification. We assemble the panel without modifying the enclosure so that certification is kept intact. Certification and documentation requirements are confirmed for each project.

What types of control panels do you build?

We build panels to each customer's requirements, including motor starter panels, VFD panels, control panels for skid packages and local control stations, with run/stop controls, alarm and fault indication, local/remote selection and emergency stop.

Which enclosure brands do you use?

Mainly Cortem Ex d flameproof enclosures. We can also build in other certified brands such as R. STAHL, Eaton or BARTEC where a project specifies them.

Do you build complete packages with the panel?

Yes. Our hydraulic power units can be supplied with Ex motors and an ATEX control panel as one package.

Where are the panels built?

At our workshop in Defu Lane, Singapore, for customers in Singapore and overseas.

Do you build panels for offshore use?

Yes. We build Zone 2 starter and VFD panels in certified Ex d enclosures for offshore use. We can also design and fabricate the lifting frame, built to DNV requirements on request.
